Nick and Melissa chose to get their engagement session done in some of my favorite locations in Rhode Island. We began the day at Castle Hill in Newport, which I was amazed to find out how friendly they were toward people conducting a shoot on their lawn without any formal request, (maybe they just didn't see us). Either way it is an amazing location looking out onto the Newport bridge. The summer sun kills me however, we arrived at the Inn at 8:00 sharp and already the sun was blaring down at us and creating harsh light. We worked around it and managed to get some great shots in spite of the fact that the light could fry an egg. After a few more shots down the street at the park along cliff walk we met back up on Jamestown at Fort Weatherill to get some sunset pictures. I love photographing friends because after you have the desired shots of the day, you can begin experimenting with strobe effects at their expense and they encourage you because after all they are getting the results anyway. Thanks guys for putting up with me after two quite long sessions to capture some more experimental type lighting. And thanks Nick for the constant supply of ice coffee, I don't think I slept at all that night.
